Reading aloud to your baby is a wonderful way to encourage language development! At one month of age, babies will respond to your tone of voice as well as to the pleasant feeling of being cuddled while reading together. They will begin to associate those lovely feelings with books, so good on you for starting so young!
Some wonderful books to start with are high contrast board books that contain black and white images, books with baby faces, textured cloth books that they can handle to get a feel for different materials and board books that are either completely wordless or with simple storylines. Although at this young age you can go also ahead and read aloud sections of a novel you’re reading or parts of the newspaper, it’s best to let little fingers explore board or cloth books. This is especially true when your child starts to reach for and mouth objects.
Some titles to get you started in Arabic: Nursery Rhymes from Al Salwa Books, The Colors of the Grocery Store from Kalimat Publishing, Animals in my book from Kalimat Publishing, Ayn? From Hikayati
Some titles in English: Look, Look!, Baby Faces, Goodnight Moon, Dear Zoo
