Well, there’s no time like the present. You can start reading to your kids from day one. At first, you can read aloud the morning paper, that novel you’ve been reading or excerpts from the parenting book you’re going through. In the first few months, it’s more about the rhythmic sound of your voice rather than the plot of the story. Between 3 and 6 months, your child will enjoy interacting with books, so choose short, simple books with things like texture, mirrors or flaps, and make sure to settle in for lots of cuddles as you read aloud
