It’s normal for children this age to start doubting their looks and their strengths and start having issues with their body image and self esteem. Unfortunately, the media around us as well as bullying in schools feed into that mindset. The most important thing for you is to keep communication channels open with her, so she can trust you and therefore tell you everything. Ask her why she thinks that, what makes her feel this way? Has anyone ever commented on her looks? Try to think about the social and family messages that she is receiving from you at home and from her friends at school. Is any of it contributing to this thought process? In general, just reassurance from your side would be okay but if you feel like it’s getting to a point where it’s affecting her and her relationships negatively then talking to a therapist might help.
